holiday window painting and cleaning

It’s that time of year again.  Time to decorate the tree, get out the Christmas lights, and get those storefront or home windows beautifully painted?

Yes that’s right, many business owners and Christmas lovers enjoy those paintings on windows, but the problems is what to do with them once the seasons over?  I’m here to let you in on the process I like to use to clean off your holiday window painting.

Before you begin the clean up make sure you are wearing clothes you don’t mind getting some paint on, because holiday paint removal is very messy!!

Tools that are required to do the job correctly are a glass safe razor, water or windex, a squeegee, bucket, and a lot of cloth rags.

How to Clean Holiday Window Paintings

First get the paint very wet, never use a blade on a dry window.  Once the paint is wet, start scraping at 45 degree angle.

Never go up with the blade.  This is a slow peeling process.

Some are faster than others, depending on the size of the mural.  Once all paint is clear, clean the window with the squeegee.

Make sure all paint is cleaned off the window and especially the sills and frames.  This is a messy job.

Sound like a lot of work?

Instead of spending hours scraping off paint, sit back and enjoy the holidays!

Call us at ProShine and we will take care of those windows for you!
